String quartet to launch 2019 concert series

Published April 23 2019

The Haliburton Concert Series will open its 2019 season on Sunday May 5 with a concert by the Rolston String Quartet.
This young Canadian quartet has been winning competitions and presenting concerts all over the world and were named one of CBC’s “30 Hot Canadian Musicians under 30” in 2016. They are now the quartet-in-residence at the Yale School of Music. Organizers are thrilled that they will be presenting a concert in Haliburton in which they will play music by Mozart R. Murray Schafer and Brahms. It will be a memorable afternoon.
The concert will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the Northern Lights Performing Arts Pavilion in the Haliburton Highlands Secondary School. Complimentary refreshments will be served at intermission and after the concert there will be an opportunity to meet the musicians.
Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for students. Subscription packages are also available. Contact Fred Shuttleworth at 705-455-9060 or fred.ann.shuttleworth. Full details are available at www.haliburtoncs.blogspot.com.
The organizers of the concert series are grateful to the Ontario Arts Council for their generous support of their concerts.
