Junior Red Hawks hard work not enough

Coach Judi Paul was proud of her team following the home opener against the visiting I.E. Weldon Secondary School Wildcats on Tuesday, May 7.She said, “I came off the field feeling good.”Although the team lost their second in as many games by a 3-0 score, the Red Hawks played well in light of the circumstances.

Wildcats roar past Red Hawks

It was a day for the shutout. Unfortunately for the home side it was in the favour of the visiting teams from Lindsay.The Haliburton Highlands Secondary School (HHSS) girls’ junior and senior soccer teams were both blanked by the visiting I.E. Weldon Secondary School Wildcats during the home opener on Tuesday, May 7.

Red Hawks soar beyond St. Thomas Titans

Ominous dark clouds were seen in all directions except above the soccer pitch in Haliburton. Appropriate, as nothing was dark on this day for the home side, who seemed to do everything right.The Red Hawks senior girls’ soccer team beamed under the strong sun, shining at the Gary G. Brohman Athletic Facility in Haliburton on Thursday, May 9.

OFSAA more than just medals

They believed and achieved what only seemed like a dream several weeks ago.Close to a week after the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations championship in Chatham, the mixed doubles badminton team Jaimie Dack and Bin Chun of Haliburton Highlands Secondary School smile, reflecting about feeling “astonished” at winning a bronze medal.

Red Hawks slay Spartans in season opener

The Haliburton Highlands Secondary School won the Kawartha West League season opener 2-0 in Lindsay on Thursday May 2. Red Hawks goalkeeper Jenn Woolacott earned the shutout. Goals came from McKenzie Hill and Maia O’Sullivan. The junior teams competed afterwards with LCVI emerging with a 2-0 win in penalty shots.

It’s all about the team.Red Hawks senior badminton coach Jason Morissette loves his team for how it came together and strung a sequence of formidable performances to win the team title at the Central Ontario Secondary School Athletic (COSSA) finals a few weeks ago.

Jr Hawks crowned COSSA badminton champs

It came down to three points, but the junior Red Hawks badminton team pulled through taking the overall team title at the Central Ontario Secondary School Athletic championship at East Northumberland Secondary School in Brighton.
