Shoreline naturalization workshop and planting event June 11
The Coalition of Haliburton Property Owners Association is seeking interested lakefront landowners and volunteers to participate in a Shoreline Naturalization Workshop and planting event this June!
In 2016 the Coalition of Haliburton Property Owners Association, in partnership with the Municipality of Dysart et al and Glenside Ecological Services, is creating a shoreline renaturalization demonstration site in Sam Slick Park on Head Lake in the town of Haliburton.
Stage 1 of the planting on this site will take place 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. June 11, 2016 and is an opportunity through Glenside Ecological to learn about restoration planning components such as: erosion control, vegetation spacing, invasive species, access points and buffer zones. for high school students to earn some volunteer hours. Shovels and gloves will be provided, however, bringing your own shovel would be appreciated. Snacks and refreshments will be provided once the planting has been completed.
