Stepping up the sidewalk sale

By Jenn Watt

June 7, 2016

This year’s Haliburton Village sidewalk sale is going to be a little more musical, a little more delicious and a lot of fun.

On Saturday, June 18, shoppers can take advantage of sales in Haliburton’s downtown, organized by the BIA. Taking place on the same day as the ever-popular Trash ‘N’ Treasures sale in Head Lake Park, the sidewalk sale will give shoppers more to do and see while they’re out and about.

“We’re going to bring it up a notch,” says Gail Stelter, BIA administrator.

The Lions Club will be holding a special barbecue in front of the Village Barn on Highland Street, selling cash calendars and raising money for Kamp 4 Kids, sending local kids to local camps.

The Rotary Club will bring this year’s prize car into town for people to check out. Tickets will be on sale for this ever-popular fundraising raffle.

Gord Kidd, who is also a Lions Club member, will be playing music on the street and Stelter expects 33 local businesses to be participating in the event.

She is also open to buskers, who might want to liven the street with their talents.

Check out the bargains planned for the sale in next week’s edition of the Haliburton Echo.
