Land trust raises more than $10,000
To the Editor,
The Haliburton Highlands Land Trust is pleased to say we had sold 112 tickets to our Aug. 10 “Rock Our World” fundraising dance at the Haliburton Legion. Great considering this was kind of a new concept for us and a new venue.
We were very pleased and from the comments we heard from the attendees, they had a blast. The entertainment, our own local band Cheeky Monkey, started things off while people had a chance to view the auction items and have a snack and the main entertainer, Jamie Williams Entertainment brought everyone to their feet to dance for the next three hours.
We raised an amazing $10,600 after expenses! All funds raised will go towards our Stewardship Fund which is used to maintain and protect our five properties which now total 1,300 acres of trailed forests and wetlands.
Our community surely did “Rock Our World” and we are so thankful for their support.
One comment that I thought was quite appropriate for the evening was that “it was great to see our seniors in the community dancing and having a great time right alongside of the younger generation.”
One of our goals was to try to attract the next generation of Land Trust volunteers and supporters and I think we did just that. We hope to make this our signature annual event... “Rock Our World.”
On behalf of our board of directors we would like to thank our members, corporate sponsors, donors and attendees who made this an incredible night for us.
