Hydro One confirms death of employee

Hydro One has confirmed that the young man who died in an accident near Coleman Lake Road in Haliburton County on March 21 was an employee of the utility.
According to the OPP, at approximately 10:25 a.m. on Thursday, police received a call regarding the incident, and attended the site along with Haliburton County Paramedics. A 25-year-old man from Syndenham, Ont., was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
“It is with heavy hearts that we confirm that one of our employees passed away from injuries sustained on the job while doing forestry work in the Minden area,” reads a statement from Hydro One. “Three other employees were treated in hospital and were released.”
No other details as to the nature of the accident were provided, and the Ministry of Labour is investigating.
“We are deeply saddened by this loss and, above all else, our thoughts and condolences are with the employee's family, friends and colleagues,” the statement reads. “During this grieving process, we will do everything we can to assist family and teammates by providing counselling and support. The safety of our employees is paramount and Hydro One will fully support the Ministry of Labour in its investigation into the incident. We would like to thank the first responders and our employees onsite for their brave efforts.”
Sydenham is a small town located near Kingston, in the County of Frontenac.
