A pile of ashes dumped on a Peninsula Drive property was to blame for a brush fire Tuesday.

Dysart Fire Department sent seven firefighters to the property at 2:44 p.m. Oct. 20 to find "a creeping fire spreading through the bush burning the dry leaves on the ground" according to a press release.

The ashes had been dumped on the property 24 hours earlier.

Burning regulations continue until Nov. 1 and fire chief Miles Maughan reminds everyone to take great care in disposing of ashes.
