What happened to skateboard park?

To the Editor:

Just between Halco Plaza and Emmerson Lumber there is what remains of the skateboard park.

Is there a new location for this skateboard area to be set up?

I always understood that since the kids were told they were not allowed to skateboard on the road, or especially the sidewalk, that they had raised the monies along with donations to build the small skateboard ramps in the area that was alloted them.

Now there is the library and parking there and the kids once more are skateboarding on the streets and the roads. We almost ran over one boy as he was skateboarding down Pine Street on the hill into town.

Everyone seems to wonder why the kids are alway getting in trouble yet when they do build something they really enjoy they lose it.

I have teenage grandchildren who do not use this skateboard area however they don't understand why their friends can't skateboard anymore.

I cannot answer the question because I don't have the answer either.
