Gail Stelter wasn’t going to let a ripped up main street or a gloomy forecast get in her way.
The coordinator of this year’s Colourfest was determined to make the annual fall festival a success.
An initiative of the Haliburton Business Improvement Area, the annual event saw hundreds of people on Highland Street and in Head Lake Park on Sept. 29 to take in a full day of activities.
With three entertainment stages, not-for-profit vendors, buskers, pontoon boat rides, games, crafts, vintage cars and a pet show, there was something for everyone.
“I thought everything was really great. I was very pleased with how everything unfolded,” said Stelter.
The coordinator attributed the success of the event to a group of dedicated volunteers and enthusiastic not-for-profit organizations.
“We had great entertainment, absolutely fantastic.”
Looking to next year there are elements Stelter would like to improve, such as more buskers and perhaps clowns on the main street.
Unable to estimate exactly how many people attended the event, the coordinator was pleased to see 1,700 Colourfest pins handed out during the day.
The winner of the pumpkin weight guessing game was Tegan Legge and the winner of the prize tree was Emmeline Ruttle.
