In the early morning of Monday, July 30, officers from the Bancroft OPP responded to a disturbance call on Loop Road in Highlands East. The investigation revealed that two adult males attended a residence and physically assaulted another man with weapons.

The victim, a 41-year-old man of Highlands East was transported by ambulance to hospital in Haliburton with serious non-life-threatening injuries.

A 27-year-old man of Highlands East was arrested and has been charged with aggravated assault. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Bancroft court on Aug. 28.

A 23-year old man of Highlands East was arrested and has been charged with aggravated assault. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Bancroft court on Aug. 28.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
