Local man charged with harassing wildlife 0
A Haliburton man was charged with using his vehicle to harass wildlife by the OPP last weekend.
According to patrons of the Wild Moose restaurant, a man driving a golf cart on Wigamog Road Saturday, July 7, purposefully rode over some geese and goslings, killing one.
“He was driving carelessly … [and] saluted the horrified onlookers on the patio and sped off,” said Rob McCaig, who said he witnessed the event.
According to onlookers, the geese were on the grassy slope off the road and the man chose to drive onto the grass to harass the geese.
Patrons of the restaurant contacted police.
According to OPP media spokeswoman Constable Sandy Adams, police investigated and charged the man under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.
The charges have not been proved in court.
