Haliburton Highlands Mountain Bike Club offers intro to mountain biking for youth at Glebe Park 0

The Haliburton Highlands Mountain Bike Club is offering a youth ride, introducing cyclists from Grades 4 to 7 an opportunity for a guided ride in the Glebe Park every Tuesday, starting July 3. Rides will be led by local Ontario Cup racer Owen Flood, who races for Arrow Racing and is also an executive member of the club. He will provide progressive basic skill development and instruction. Other instructors include Trey Kyle and Kyle Lavergne, both Ontario Cup competitors.

Rides will start at 6:30 p.m. and approximately end at 7:30 p.m. It will be broken into 20/30 minutes of basic skills to negotiate the trails with control, leaving up to 40 minutes for a group ride through the trail network after. Participants are asked to bring a certified cycling helmet, working mountain bike and a good attitude. Cost is free, but membership to the club is encouraged for regular participants. The ride will start promptly and run rain or shine (unless there is thunder). The group will meet in the parking lot just past the Haliburton Highlands Museum, located in Haliburton on Museum Road off of Hwy. 118. Parents are welcome to attend the group. Waivers will be available to sign. For more information and to confirm participation contact owenflood3005@hotmail.com.
